Creators who are a part of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) will be able to start earning money from their Shorts views on February 1, 2023. The YouTube Shorts Fund will be replaced by revenue-sharing for shorts.
Although YouTube's short-form video is nothing new, it now goes by the term "Shorts." Shorts, which debuted in 2021, is YouTube's response to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other services for viral videos. But is your time really worth it.

Vertical, short-form videos known as YouTube Shorts are
available for both creation and viewing on the site. Features like video
segmenting, app-based recording, and musical overlays can be added to Shorts to
improve them. Shorts must be 60 seconds or less in length and cannot be deleted
like Snapchat or Instagram Reels.
Shorts still merits your attention even if it is still in
its infancy and only time will tell if it will be useful as a marketing tool,
especially if you already have a YouTube video strategy.
How do YouTube Shorts work?
Since its launch in 2005, almost two decades ago, YouTube
has been one of the most popular (if not the most popular) video-sharing
websites. It is well-known for its longer-form, horizontal video content, where
producers post over 500 hours of daily hilarious, instructive, and promotional
content.

Today, YouTube provides producers with 10 different ways to
monetize their videos. With this update, we expand the methods you can earn,
but we're also offering various qualifying limits for YPP to make it accessible
to even more producers. Beginning in mid-January 2023, newly qualified creators
will have two options for joining YPP:
Either acquiring 1,000 subscribers with 4,000 recent valid
public watch hours, or acquiring 1,000 subscribers with 10 million recent valid
public Shorts views.

Gain YPP eligibility with Shorts
The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) eligibility criterion for
creators of Shorts is something we're delighted to announce. Creators will be
able to qualify for YPP starting in mid-January 2023 by accumulating 1,000
subscribers and 10 million legitimate public Shorts views in the previous 90
days. Once accepted into the programme, partners get access to all of YPP's
features and advantages, including adverts on long-form films. Despite the fact
that any watch hours from Shorts views do not contribute towards the Creators
shold of 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 public watch hours in the past 12 months,
Creators still have the opportunity to be eligible for YPP.
Examples of videos that are ineligible include:
• Non-original videos, such as unedited excerpts from motion
pictures or TV programmes
• Reposting content from other creators on YouTube or other
platforms without include any unique content
Making a YouTube Short from already-posted YouTube videos
1. Click the "Create" button from the list of
options just below the video after choosing a YouTube video or live stream
(this can be content from your channel or one from another).
2. Choose between "Cut" and "Sound"
creation.
3. Choose a YouTube video clip to use as a short. At this
stage, you can also record your audio if you choose "Sound." Your
clip will keep the audio from the original video if you choose to
"Cut."
4. After making your choice, click "Next" once
more to proceed with publishing. Select "Upload Short" after entering
the necessary information for your short.
